Eligibility to Become an Income Tax Inspector

To become an income tax inspector, you must meet certain requirements.

Educational Qualification

You should have a bachelor’s degree in any subject.

Age Limit

  • General category: up to 30 years.
  • OBC category: up to 33 years.
  • SC/ST category:  upto 35 years.

Physical Standards

Height: Men are at least 157.5 cm tall. Women are 152 cm tall.

  • Chest (for men): A chest size of 81 cm with an expansion of 5 cm is required.

How to Become an Income Tax Inspector

You can become an income tax inspector by passing the Staff Selection Commission (SSC) Combined Graduate Level (CGL) exam. This is a competitive exam held every year. The process consists of four stages, and you need to clear each stage to be selected.
